Installing Swimming Pool Liners

Swimming pool liners play significant role in functional and aesthetic aspects of swimming pools; thus, installing them is a must. Swimming pool liner installation can be exhausting and time-consuming but it can be rewarding at the end. Imagine having a swimming pool without liners where you might be swimming with dirts, bacteria, and other forms of unwanted objects. Add up the view and feeling of monotony in the pool where there are no sights and touches of arts or designs around. Surely it is a dreadful and boring swimming experience. With swimming pool liners, swimming pools look safer and more inviting. Further, they make the swimming pool, may it be in-ground or above ground, to be longer lasting, protecting it from cracking or leaking due to weathering of seasons and direct contact with sunlight all year-round.

How to install swimming pool liners? Though the ways of installing in-ground swimming pool liners and above-ground swimming pool liners (including expandable swimming pool liners) differ, they do pass through the same process – preparation and installation. Generally, a swimming pool liner installation is successful if the liner does not have tears, bubbles, or bulges in or between the liner and the pool’s physical structure.

During the preparation stage of in-ground swimming pool liner installation, the pool should be drained right before the new liner is to be installed. Then, remove the old liner and clean the track to allow the new liner to fit in properly. Seal any cracks or fissures on the walls to ensure air tightness. Carefully remove the fittings so everything is still securely in place when the new liner is installed. Make sure all pool walls and pool base are clean and flat.

When everything is done and ready to install, put the new liners in the hole and start aligning them. Aligning is critical so do it with extra care. Use vacuum to fit the liners. Upon successful fitting in, begin filling the pool. Continue filling in the pool until the desired level of water to make the liners tight against the wall all around.

On the case of the above-ground swimming pool liners and most likely with the expandable swimming pool liner, prepare for installation by draining all water from the pool, carefully removing all accessories attached, replacing the old duct tape on the wall bolt seam and making sure the walls and floors are clean and debris-free.

When everything is ready, install the new liners on the pool wall. But before doing so, make sure all the walls are sealed with duct tape. Fit in the liners on the wall neatly and tightly ensuring no wrinkles and they are properly aligned. While the vacuum is on, fill in the pool with water covering the floor up to 1”. When everything is okay, re-assemble the removed accessories, remove all duct tapes and continue filling in water to the desired level. Add up some start up chemicals and then you are ready to splash on your newly-designed swimming pool.
